I'm a Bridesmaid

Now I actually feel like a Bridesmaid. Before it was just a word, but now we have dresses and details and times and jobs... it's exciting!

I have a few pictures from today...

First I'll introduce you to the gang, minus 2. There will be 4 Bridesmaids, 1 Maid of Honor and 1 Matron of Honor.

Bridesmaids Latessa and I, Bride-to-Be Jessica, Maid OH Ashley, and Matron OH Allison.

You should already know Latessa and Jessica, Ashley is her best friend from high school and Allison is her brother's wife. (They have a 5 month old girl, Jaiden, and she is precious!) The other two are Cristina, her cousin, and Melissa, Jeremy the Groom-to-Be's sister.

I am only showing you the dress that we picked, but we tried on 2 others. One had some lace on the bodice that we decided would clash with the Bride's dress - but I can't give you any more detials about that. : ) And the other one just wasn't as flattering as the final choice.

Here is teeny tiny Ashley modeling the dress.

Latessa modeling the dress.

This is how they held the dress on us all, it was a size 12!

And here is an image I found online of what the dress should actually look like when it's the right size and we don't need industrial clips to hold them on... The color on the dress we tried on is the color it will be.

We went to lunch afterward and chatted about the details. They told us at the bridal shop that it will take 3 to 5 months to get the dresses in, we all thought that seemed like a long time. It's a good thing we did it now and didnt put it off any longer, there is only 6 months until the wedding. We will be wearing black open-toed shoes and white pearl earrings.

Anyway, just a quick post to share the excitement!

Slacker

Sorry I have been a slacker.

But really, I haven't been because I am in the third week of a strenuous four weeks class. Contemporary Art History class, one semester condensed into one month. I have had homework every night since the class started. In total we have about 25 pages of reading each night, four two-page papers, two discussion worksheets with six short answer questions each, and two exams that we have to memorize 50 images each and about 30 terms each time.

So when I have a free moment, my thoughts do not drift to the blogger in me. But, I had a second today, like right now, when I really just needed to take a 5-10 minute break from school and work and think about me. And how hot it has been here this week (I'm talking 95-99 degrees with 70-85% humidity).

Tomorrow is supposed to be 99, well into the hundreds with the heat index. And I get to take a mini-road trip. Latessa and I are headed to St. Louis to meet up with Jessica to try on some Bridesmaid dresses. I guess I probably didn't tell you that Jessica asked me to be a Bridesmaid in her wedding on January 2, 2010... but any who...

I plan on taking pictures of the the group of girls that can make it, so I'll post a couple. Assuming I remember my camera, and assuming I remember to take photos. : )

And since I don't believe in posts without photos, I'll use this post to show you some of the photos taken at the photo shoot in May... I think I mentioned that before. They are pretty self-explanatory, we just needed pictures of the new bookstore.

Be back soon, cjd

To finish April in June...

I'm back. I went on vacation, it was lovely. But here in blog-land I am still in April, so you'll have to wait for details until I mosey on over to June. : )

Okay, so from where I left off...
I had finals and final projects to prepare for. Lots of hectic days (which I blamed for my lack of posts already).

Come May it was all study and work. I had 3 final projects and 1 final exam due by May 12. Then I had another huge work presentation on the 14.

Then I cleaned, and got my hair cut, my eyebrows waxed, and I even painted my toe nails:

All to prepare for Steven's graduation on May 16! Let the photo story commence:

Before the ceremony.

Walking the stage... the screen changed as I took the picture!

Steven, his sister, and parents.

Steven and Elliott. Look how huge that kitty is!

Steven, his grandparents, and I. (I wore my black and gold!)

The morning after Steven's graduation (6:00 in the morning, to be accurate), we left for Chicago to attend his sister's high school graduation. We got there with just enough time to change clothes and get to the high school. More photos:

Elliott in the car on the way to Chicago.

At Steven's sister's graduation - They had a lovely outdoor ceremony.

Elliott on the way home from Chicago, protecting his new toy!

So then nothing exciting happened until May 27 when I became the owner of a washer and dryer, finally! (I would post a picture, but everyone knows what they look like. : )

That catches me up to last week! So during the lull that is summer I will go back and post more detailed descriptions and more pictures of things I mentioned. At least that's the plan.

Be back soon. At least that's the plan. : )

Next in line, please.

I told you I would be back soon. : ) Now where was I...

Next I had a HUGE project due. Like the biggest class project ever. It was my baby for weeks. (I'll have pictures and details soon).

Then it was Earth Day. We had an event at the University Bookstore, and I got a baby tree. It now resides in a pot in front of my house (since I live in a rental, I didn't want to plant in the ground).

It's a Flowering Dogwood. Picture from today.

Next on the calendar was Steven's birthday. We went out to the Piano Bar, and had a blast, as usual. Here's a photo from one night at the Piano Bar... not sure if it's Steven's birthday or another time.

Me and Latessa

Then I had a HUGE work presentation. We had to present our football season marketing campaign to the University Bookstore and the Tiger Team Store. I was in charge of the design and rational, so that kept me busy - especially since I had regular work and school work to go along with it.

That's all for today. : )

So Shoot Me

Okay, I lied.

I have been meaning to post more often. I swear.
I could make a list of excuses reasons why I have been absent. But I wont. Just know that life has been busy, and I plan on catching you up. Starting now.
Going in order... starting from the last time I posted anything of significance...

I turned in another packaging design project. And I actually have pictures!

I created wine labels for 4 types of wine, a cheese and cracker basket - complete with 2 types of cheese and 2 types of crackers, an apron, a box for gifts, and a business card.

This was a fun project. I thought I did a good job, and I received an A so my teacher must have thought the same.

Then a couple days later I had my Grad Check. That's when they make sure you actually have all the credits you need or are signed up to take the proper classes so you can graduate "on time." I had one small glitch... I had one too many art classes. So I either had to drop an art class, or pick up an additional non-art class. I decided to take Marketing 3000 to fulfill that. I also verified my minor. So unless something really tragic occurs - I will be graduating on December 20th, 2009 with a Bachelor of Art - Graphic Design and a minor in Art History. : ) : ) Yay!
Then my friend Jessica turned 23... unfortunately I have no pictures. But here is a picture of me and my two best friends from another night...

Me, Latessa, and Jessica

That's as far as I'll go today. More soon. I suppose I shouldn't promise, but I really intend to post again really soon. : )

**Edit: You couldn't click on the photos to enlarge them before... not sure why, but it's fixed now!**
